The Redlands Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa (ADK) recently held their popular annual Fashion Show Fundraiser and luncheon this past Saturday, Feb. 21. Kicking off the fashion, flowers and fun at 11 a.m., guests came piling in the Orton Conference Center at University of Redlands as they were greeted with multiple treats awaiting at their table including: small sweet snacks, iced tea, coffee and more. That’s not including the fresh flowers at each table that were each decorated personally by the ADK members; hence this year’s theme: Flowers and Fashion. “ADK is an international honorary sorority for women educators that promotes educational excellence, altruism, and worldwide understanding,” said member Barbara Krause as she explained the many projects the group pursues due to this major fundraiser. Lunch was served at about noon in order for everyone to visit and settle in. Right at 1 p.m., the fashion show began. According to the Redlands chapter president, Martha Lehman, this fundraiser’s proceeds will go toward benefiting many of the chapter’s projects. “This is the biggest fundraiser we do,” Lehman said. “We sold out this year, filling up 40 tables.” Tickets were $35, which included beverages, lunch, sweet treats and the fashion show. “We had rise the prices a bit, but not too much that made it unreasonable. This Fashion Show fundraiser is always a great one,” Lehman added. Various fashion boutiques were also set up in the conference center for guests to do some quick shopping for the latest fashions. CAbi was one of the boutiques; not only did they have their booth set up full, of clothes but they provided the latest fashionable clothes for the ADK members to model for everyone. The proceeds of the fundraiser will go to multiple of ADK’s projects for this year including honorariums for student teachers at the University of Redlands, a contribution to American Field Service and book donations to school libraries in the Redlands Unified School District.
