A man is being sought for attempted murder after allegedly assaulting another man walking past his residence on June 1, San Bernardino sheriff's officials say. According to information released by police, the suspect allegedly confronted the victim who was walking past a residence on the 4100 block of North E Street in San Bernardino around 8 a.m. that morning. According to sheriffs, the suspect exited the patio area of the residence, ran to the victim and asked him why he was wearing blue bandana pants. Police said the suspect identified himself as a gang member and pulled a chrome/silver handgun from his waistband. "The suspect threatened to shoot and kill the victim, then punched the victim in his face and started hitting the victim in his face and head with the handgun," a report issued by deputies states. Sheriffs said a round was fired from the handgun during the altercation. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered a broken jaw from the incident, police said, but he was not shot. The suspect is described as a black male adult, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff's Department Central Station at 909-387-3545.
