Calling all musical aficionados! Grand Terrace Senior Center hosts musical jam sessions every Wednesday at noon, led by instructor and guitarist Jim Berndt. For the past 13 years, Berndt has been the leader of the music group. Carole Booth, one of the groups members, particularly enjoys the style of music practiced weekly. “We play old western music. It makes it easy to play the songs we used to hear when we were young. Not many places play this style of music,” expressed Booth. “It doesn’t matter how good you are, everyone is welcome. It is a good time to spend together with family and friends.” Both she and her husband, Bob, attend the music group on a regular basis. The organizer of this event and all of the events at the Senior Center is President Jane Haines. The newly elected Haines hopes to build the attendance for these events and encourages all to stop by and participate in the activities the center hosts weekly. “Many people in Grand Terrace do not know there is a Senior Center,” states Haines, but she is doing all she can to change this. Haines encourages all individuals to stop by and get involved. “The center offers good fellowship and activities to engage in,” explains Booth, “and time spent together extends life and makes it enjoyable. Friends are here to give you a lift.”
