San Bernardino Police are reporting an elderly man dead after he fell and was run over by a car. Officers responded to a call on Jan. 15, detailing an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian occurring on the 360 block of E. Rialto Avenue in the rear parking lot of the Arbor Apartment complex. Police reports indicate a responding officer observed San Bernardino City Fire personnel attempting to resuscitate an elderly male victim. The initial investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was 48-year-old San Bernardino resident, Alvis C. Prince Jr, who was attempting to pick up his father, 86-year-old San Bernardino resident, A.C. Prince, and transport him to a dialysis appointment, police reports show. As A.C. Prince walked toward his son's vehicle, he lost his balance and fell in front of the moving car. Prince was unable to stop in time and ran over his elderly father. The victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. Police say there were no signs of intoxication and/or impairment of the driver at the time of the accident. "It seems as if this is an unfortunate accident," police reports read. Investigation into the accident is still ongoing. Anyone with additional information regarding the collision is asked to contact Det. K. Jeffrey at 909-384-5664.
