Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAPSBC), the designated Community Action Agency for San Bernardino County, is seeking nominations for qualified individuals to serve its Board of Directors to represent the low-income residents of the First and Fifth Supervisorial Districts on the Community Action Board (CAB). The CAB serves as the governing body of CAPSBC and is a fifteen-member, tripartite board comprised of public, private and low-income directors. For 50 years, CAPSBC has been helping people and changing lives. CAPSBC programs include Weatherization, Home Energy Assistance, Family Development, Assets for Independence/Individual Development Accounts, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, and the CAPSBC Food Bank. All applicants requesting consideration to represent the Low-Income Sector on the CAB Board of Directors must reside in the First or Fifth Supervisorial District. The First District includes the Cities of Victorville, Apple Valley, Hesperia, Adelanto, Wrightwood, and the unincorporated areas surrounding Barstow such as Fort Irwin, Needles, Trona, Yermo, (but does not include the City of Barstow). The Fifth District includes the Cities of Colton, Fontana, Rialto, and San Bernardino and the unincorporated communities of Bloomington, El Rancho Verde, Glen Helen, Arrowhead Farms, and Muscoy. Applicants need not be low-income themselves as long as they are selected in a manner that ensures that they truly represent the poor. If you are interested in nominating yourself or an individual, please be sure to request either the District #1 or District #5 - Nomination Packet, to be returned to our office by mail or fax no later than April 29, 2016. If you have questions or need more information, please contact Sandra Brown, Planning and Program Development Specialist at (909) 723-1534 or e-mail at sbrown@capsbc.org.
