SAN BERNARDINO>> San Bernardino County Chairman James Ramos announced the retirement of one of his longtime staff members, John Futch. Futch joined Ramos’ office in 2013 as a Field Representative for the Third District, covering most of the Inland Valley. As a longtime resident of the Third District, Futch became an ideal addition due to his vast knowledge of the issues facing the Third District communities and his active participation in many community organizations. Last year, Chairman Ramos promoted John Futch to Deputy Chief of Staff, becoming one of the Supervisor’s top advisors. “John has dedicated many years working tirelessly to improve his community," Ramos said. "He deserves to enjoy more time with his family and loved ones. On behalf of the Third District, I thank him for the service and leadership he has provided. I wish him good health and happiness in his retirement.” Ramos has promoted two staff members, Molly Wiltshire and Sandra Maravilla, to serve as dual Deputy Chiefs of Staff. “Their united professionalism, strong leadership and sharp insights into the state of our county and its policies will greatly enhance the representation of the Third District,” Ramos said. Wiltshire is a familiar face to the Third District. When Ramos took over as Third District Supervisor for the County of San Bernardino, Wiltshire went to work for him as his Communications Director. Within two years, Wiltshire was promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff. In this capacity, she served on several commissions on behalf of the Supervisor including the Behavioral Health Commission and the Interagency Council on Homelessness. She was instrumental in the creation of the Homeless Youth Taskforce and led efforts to conduct the first homeless youth survey in the County in 2015. Toward the end of 2015, Wiltshire moved to Washington, DC to pursue her graduate degree. While Wiltshire enjoyed her time in Washington, DC, she decided to return home to continue working with her community. She will complete a Master of Public Administration in Spring 2017. Sandra Maravilla joined Ramos' office at the beginning of his term as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. The Chairman brought her on board as his Communications Director. In that capacity, Maravilla was responsible for communication with the local press and keeping residents informed about important issues affecting the Third District. Within a year, she was promoted to Policy Advisor to help oversee some policy areas of critical need. Among these were land use services and homelessness. Maravilla has a strong background in public policy having received a Master's Degree in that field from Claremont Graduate University in 2014. Like Chairman Ramos, Wiltshire and Maravilla are both graduates of the University of Redlands.
