Darcy McNaboe Runs for Election as Grand Terrace’s Mayor

Councilmember Darcy McNaboe seeks election as Grand Terrace’s mayor after serving nearly four years on the dais. McNaboe said she wants to represent the city “as one that is a great place to live, work and raise a family, even while we work through the fiscal challenges we are currently encountering.” McNaboe served on the city’s planning commission for five years before her election to the council; this experience equipped her with an understanding of land use and zoning, while her community involvement with organizations like the Grand Terrace Lions Club and the Foundation of Grand Terrace allowed her to “become personally committed to the future of our great city,” McNaboe said. McNaboe supports the adopted 2030 Vision and the 2014-2020 Strategic Plan, which aim “to ensure fiscal viability, maintain public safety, promote economic development, develop and implement successful partnerships and engage in proactive communication,” McNaboe explained. “To me it is important that the city not spend money it does not have,” McNaboe said. “This stance is particularly difficult when it comes to approving a budget where lack of revenue means that desired spending on public safety, park maintenance and staff hours will not be funded.” If elected, McNaboe’s focuses will be “on economic development of the remaining vacant parcels owned by the successor agency as retail commercial sites; on finding grants or similar funding for improving residents’ access to City Hall; finding ways to fund storm water infrastructure improvements; strengthening the relationship between the city and our local service and sports organizations and finding ways to fund parks so that they can no longer be used as a political weapon.” McNaboe holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an MBA with an emphasis in management, both from Cal State San Bernardino. “I can and will represent all residents (and) make sure they have the opportunity to be heard – not only those who agree with my position on an issue,” McNaboe said. “I have been that leader and representative for all of Grand Terrace residents and will be that mayor.” McNaboe runs against current mayor Walt Stanckiewitz, who seeks re-election.
