Looking for a safe place where your kids can stimulate their brain and have fun during the summer? Boys & Girls Clubs will be hosting its Second Annual Camp Einstein. The camp is a four day overnight camp designed for kids’ ages 7 to 14 to stimulate their minds with STEM related activities in the outdoors. These activities are uniquely aimed for your child’s development and gives them an enjoyable camp experience. Your kid will get the chance to stay at the Burrage Mansion in Redlands for a fun packed four day adventure into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Here at the Boys & Girls Club we recognize the need for students to stay engaged in the summertime learning. On average, during the summer most students lose two months worth of math skills and end up falling behind when they get back to school. We want to challenge students and improve their skills for the upcoming year and Camp Einstein is only the beginning of great activities we have planned for your kids. The Burrage Mansion is a huge house with twenty eight rooms to explore and tour. Your child will get to see throughout the mansion during their stay at Camp Einstein. At Camp Einstein your children will get the chance to be involved in unique activities like racing solar-powered toy boats, cooking with solar-powered cookers and building Lego robotics. "We basically want to stop the summer brain drain with Camp Einstein," said P.T. McEwen, CEO for Boys & Girls Clubs. "Many of the activities offered are everyday things, but we're putting science behind it." While Camp Einstein focuses on STEM related activities, kids will still get the opportunity to have a fun camp experience with bonfires, rock climbing, canoeing, and water fun. After a day of adventure your child will get to sleep in Teepee’s at the Burrage Mansion and experience living in the outdoors. Science, Technology, Engineering and Math are important subjects for kids. Skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity are important for the youth to have as they move up in life. Your children will see the practical use of STEM and how it relates to their own lives. Camp Einstein gives children the ability to test their curiosity with things we use every day. Give your child the boost they need this summer with Camp Einstein and see your child turn brain drain into brain gain! The cost is $150.00 and the dates are July 24 – 27, 2014 for Boys Camp and July 31 - August 3, 2014 for Girls Camp. Scholarships are available for children who need assistance. For more information or to sign up for camp, please contact our offices at (888) 822-6535 or email camp@bgcie.org.
