Inland Empire Women Veterans to Be Recognized at Luncheon

March is National Women’s History Month and to celebrate Women Veterans in particular the Inland Empire Veterans Collaborative will host a luncheon to recognize these outstanding women on March 8, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University of Redlands’ Orton Center. The Collaborative includes organizations such the University of Redlands, Cal Vet, San Bernardino County of Veterans Affairs, VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, and the San Bernardino Vet Center, among others. Women veterans and their families are encouraged to attend the event which is free and open to the public. The University of Redlands has a rich tradition of supporting military and veteran students and their families. It is a history that goes back to the University’s early days and World War I. A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
