REDLANDS>> On April 29, the Redlands Service Club Council and JustServe.org will put on a Community Day of Service. The Community Day of service will allow residents to participate in the beautification of two pre-selected Redlands locations. Those interested will have the option of choosing between two sites: Heritage Park and Redlands Blvd. Over 500 volunteers will be needed at the Heritage Park location. Volunteers will work along the water way ditch to clear rocks, repaint fences, replace DG walkways and trim trees. Residents will also have the option to work on repairs to the Redlands Blvd Median. Volunteers will be planting shrubs and install drip irrigation. All lanes of Redlands Blvd. will be closed during this event. Between the hours of 5 a.m. and 3 p.m., Fern Avenue and Ford Street will be closed to traffic. The intersections at Highland, Cypress and Fern are set to remain open, but Palm Avenue will be closed at Redlands Blvd. Detours to the freeway on and off ramp will be in place. Participants are asked to bring their own tools and gloves. Check-in for the Heritage Park location will take place at the Orange Ave. parking lot. Check-in for the Redlands Blvd. location will take place at both Fern Ave. or Ford St. Kiwanis has pitched in to provide all volunteers with a free lunch at Heritage Park. Entertainment will be provided by the Moore Middle School Marching Band and Color Guard. Both projects are family friendly, and all are welcome to participate.
