For the first time in 60 years, San Bernardino will be represented in the Pony League World Series. The San Bernardino Youth Baseball 14U All-Star team (“Berdoo”) won the Pony West Zone Championship in Los Alamitos. In this tournament, Berdoo beat out teams from Southern California, Northern California, Hawaii, Arizona, Washington, and Utah to be one of the last two teams standing. In the Championship game, Berdoo faced Santa Cruz. Down 8-5 in the bottom of the 7th inning, San Bernardino made a comeback and scored four runs, ending Santa Cruz’s journey in the Pony League All-Stars. Thus far, the San Bernardino team has played 19 games with 17 wins, two losses, scored 201 runs, and 50 runs allowed. The Berdoo Boys will claim their spot as the West in the 2015 Dick’s Sporting Goods Pony League World Series in Washington, Pa. San Bernardino will make their PLWS debut on Sunday, Aug. 9 at noon Eastern time (9 a.m. Pacific Standard). Games will stream live on plws.org and mlb.com. The Berdoo boys have set up a Go Fund Me account to offset trip expenses. Any contributions are greatly needed and appreciated and may be made here.
