SAN BERNARDINO >> In celebration of Earth Day 2016, San Bernardino County Regional Parks Department and the California Conservation Corps (CCC) joined more than 1 billion people in cleaning up their local communities. Earth Day aims to encourage people across the world to be more environmentally-friendly. This could mean increasing recycling efforts, installing solar panels, or volunteering for a local green project. For Regional Parks and the CCC, the focus this year was on the county’s portion of the Santa Ana River Trail, which spans more than seven miles from Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino to the Riverside County Line. CCC members will donate their time to beautify the trail by providing weed abatement services, tree pruning, and general trail clean-up. The California Conservation Corps is a state agency that brings together young men and women between the ages of 18 and 25 to offer job training opportunities, while improving California's natural resources. They also assist with emergency response including fires, floods, earthquakes, and pest infestations. The CCC's Inland Empire Center is based in San Bernardino. For any questions regarding this project please call (909) 387-3331. For more information regarding the California Conservation Corps please call (909) 862-3600.
