Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez to Deliver Keynote Addressat Moreno Valley College Commencement

Moreno Valley>> Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez has been selected as the Distinguished Keynote Speaker at Moreno Valley College’s 2017 Commencement Ceremony on June 8.

As the first directly elected Mayor of Riverside County’s second largest City, and a 2004 graduate of Moreno Valley College, Mayor Gutierrez will talk to graduates about his experiences, share life lessons, and urge them to remain engaged in our community’s future.

While attending the college, Mayor Gutierrez served as a student senator and student body vice president. He returned after graduation to serve as an instructor at the college. it is due to the strong ties that Mayor Gutierrez has to the city of Moreno Valley which make him as someone who has been able to achieve success coming from a native of the city of Moreno Valley.

“Moreno Valley College holds a special place in my heart,” said Mayor Gutierrez who went on to earn a graduate degree as well as a doctorate. “I’m humbled by the opportunity to speak to graduates, as they will be our future leaders in education, business, and government.”

With the experiences that Gutierrez has it can demonstrate to graduates that achievements and success can come out of institutions they attended and from neighborhoods that individuals of Moreno Valley grew up in.

Commencement ceremonies will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 5:30 pm at Moreno Valley College's College Park.
