COLTON >> On Monday, May 23, 2016, at approximately 11:01 a.m. Deputies Hedy and Hollenbaugh, from the Sheriff's Central Station, responded to Slover Avenue and Pepper Avenue, Colton, following the report of a male subject trespassing on the property. The subject was seen throwing large rocks at work trucks driving by on the property. Deputies arrived and located the subject, later identified as Raymond Farias. Farias tied himself to a large rock and threatened to throw himself off the hillside. Deputies began talking to Farias and get him to come down the side of the hill and prevent him from hurting himself. Approximately one hour later the subject emerged at the bottom of the hill and Hedy contacted him. Farias struck Hedy on the forearm with a large rock as Farias was being taken into custody. Farias was found to have a no bail PRCS warrant for burglary. He was arrested and transported to West Valley Detention Center. As part of Governor Jerry Brown's Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court Decision requiring the state to lower its prison population, offenders with non-violent, non-sexual and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county Probation.
