The long awaited day in Colton is almost here!  Mariachi Divas de Cindy Shea, a two-time Grammy Award winning all-female mariachi, will soon perform at Colton High School Whitmer Auditorium on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at 3:00 PM.   Bring the family to celebrate and enjoy the rich cultural music of mariachi while also enjoying the colorful and dynamic performance of Ballet Folklorico Flores Del Desierto.

The concert will also feature the Mariachi Youth Academy students in celebration of the Academy’s 10th anniversary of providing music education.  Since its founding in 2009, The Academy has been guided by the belief that teaching students to read music is transformative and has a profound effect on their musical and academic potential.

Over the years, Academy students have inspired audiences and communities with their music, their passion, and their commitment for keeping the cultural traditions of Mariachi alive.  The students, past and present, truly exemplify that music education enriches and brightens the fabric of a community.

The not-to-be-missed concert promises to be a truly engaging and culturally rich experience for the entire family.  “We are delighted to host the Divas performance in Colton. The songs may bring back fond memories for some of our long-time supporters, and introduce others to the beautiful tradition of mariachi music,” stated Tony Bocanegra, Sinfonia Executive Director.

The performance is on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Whitmer Auditorium, Colton High School, at 777 W. Valley Blvd., Colton, CA.  Doors open at 2:00 PM and we encourage you to arrive early to enjoy traditional foods that will be available for purchase before the concert.

Tickets are $20 and $30 and may be purchased at the door on the day of the concert or in person at the California Theater, at 562 W. 4th St., San Bernardino, Monday through Friday from 12:00 to 4:00 PM.  For best reserved seat selection, we encourage you to purchase your tickets in advance.  Please call (909) 744-2176 for more information.

Sinfonia Mexicana is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and all proceeds will support the Youth Academy music education program.

Mariachi Youth Academy - Sinfonia Mexicana of San Bernardino founded the Mariachi Youth Academy in February 2009 to provide a music education for youth, ages 8 to 20.
