Mayor's Message: Spring Time

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Springtime in Moreno Valley means warmer days, college basketball March Madness, and celebrations of Passover and Easter in our homes and throughout the City. Mother Nature makes it known spring has sprung with colorful blooms around many local parks and along our walking trails and hillsides.

Spring is about new life and renewal.

The past 12 months have been incredibly difficult, but at the heart of this week’s Passover festivities is the celebration of triumph over adversity, while Easter Sunday’s roots are in resurrection and new life.

In a year unlike any other, Mother Nature is counting on all of us as our city comes back to life and blooms again. The speed of vaccinations is accelerating, and more residents are eligible to confirm a vaccination plan. By continuing to wear masks, sanitize, and wash hands, we are able to safely work to reopen our schools and frequent our favorite local businesses.

Faith, hope, and a commitment to one another have helped us through a challenging year and they guide our days ahead. And to everyone celebrating, I hope every resident commemorates a “zissen Pesach” – sweet Passover, and looks forward to Easter’s celebration of life, made all the more beautiful by the colors of spring.
