COLTON>> The community is invited to join the Colton Joint Unified School District’s effort to help those in need this holiday season as we “Stuff the Bus” with new toys, jackets and non-perishable food items for children and families in the community. The holiday “Stuff the Bus” project is being led by the CJUSD Transportation Department, working in conjunction with the CJUSD Student Services Department. CJUSD Transportation Director Erick Richardson came up with the idea for the holiday bus. It follows in the tradition of the Kindness Bus, which rolled through the Colton Joint Unified School District during the month of October to bring positivity to schools and neighborhoods. “Our goal is to help families in need and to enjoy the holiday season” Richardson said. Richardson said his drivers have donated their time and money to the effort which will help a large number of children and families in the Colton Joint Unified School District. In addition, the CJUSD Transportation Department and Student Services Department have partnered with the Inland Empire Community Collaborative to provide food baskets to families in need. Members of the Transportation Department will be personally delivering the baskets to families. City of Colton Mayor Richard DeLaRosa and the Brownies and Daisies from GSSGC Troop 960 also recently helped out by contributing to the Jacket Drive. The community can help by bringing a new, unwrapped toy; a new jacket – sizes 5 to 3 XL and larger teen sized hoodies are especially needed, or non-perishable food to Fleming Park during the Christmas in the Park event on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fleming Park is located at 525 N. La Cadena Dr.
