City Council Recognizes Colton Truck Terminal Garage for 70 Years of Business Success

At the recent Council Meeting, Feb. 17, Council Member, Dr.G (Dr. Luis S. González), presented Fallon Almager-Fields, Office Manager of Colton Truck Terminal Garage, with a Business Focus Recognition Award for their successful business operation in the City of Colton. Also in attendance were three honored guests who are retiring from Colton Truck Terminal Garage after serving a combined 128 years as owner-operators and Partners. They are Fran Fields (46 years), Ed Doltar (45 years), and Rich Doltar (37 years).

Located at 863 East Valley Blvd, this local garage has been serving the community for 70 years, and is a foundational business piece which forms the gateway to Colton at the East end of the city.

Originally established in 1956, the owner, Mr. Dale Burgess, built this garage with (4) bays, employed (8) people, and was located just down the street. For the most part, he worked on truck engines, but on occasion, an unusual piece of equipment would show up (pick-up truck, school bus, or tractor) just to see if Mr. Dale could fix it. Obviously he did, and the word got out.

Mr. Dale hired all three of the Partners. Fran Fields in 1979, Ed Doltar in 1980, and Rich Doltar in 1982, which is the same year they moved to the current location due to increased business and the need for expansion. That year, they built the west wing with (5) bays, offices, parts counter, and lobby. Two years later, they added the east wing with (4) additional bays. Needless to say, their business has been successful, as their mantra of “getting the job done” has permeated through every repair job that has resulted in another satisfied customer; that list continues to grow. Today, they have 9 bays, repair all kinds of diesel engines, and focus on commercial trucks, fire trucks, and motor homes.

The members of the Colton Truck Terminal Garage leadership team are to be congratulated, not only for their 70 years of business success in Colton, but for the long-standing dedication of these three outstanding partners—Fran Fields, Ed Doltar and Rich Doltar—who are retiring Feb. 27, leaving a legacy of hard-work, excellent service, and customer satisfaction. The good news is that the company will stay in the family, as Fallon is the daughter-in-law of Fran Fields. We truly hope that they will continue their successful business for years to come.

The Colton City Council congratulates the entire team at Colton Truck Terminal Garage and recognizes them for their hard work, great customer service, and excellent reputation—and for making a valuable contribution to our community and to our local economy.
