UofR Celebrates Graduates

The University of Redlands will host its 105th commencement ceremonies for the graduating class of 2014 on April 24 and 26 in the outdoor Greek Amphitheater at its main campus in Redlands. More than 1,600 students from the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and School of Education from all University of Redlands branch campuses in southern California will participate in the commencement ceremonies. Members of the University of Redlands faculty will also be recognized as part of the Commencement activities. Commencement speakers include: Paul Jessup, Riverside County deputy superintendent of schools; Bran Ferren, co-founder and chief creative officer of Applied Minds LLC and Nancy Jardini, senior vice president and chief compliance officer at Fannie Mae. Paul Jessup graduated with honors from the University of Redlands in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in English and a teaching credential. Paul went on to earn his master’s degree in 1983 with credentials in educational administration and pupil personnel services. Jessup has a long distinguished history of teaching in the School of Education and is a core adjunct faculty in School Finance, Personnel, Leadership and Law & Politics. Bran Ferren, a designer and technologist, is co-founder and chief creative officer of Applied Minds LLC, where he invents and prototypes high-technology products and innovative business strategies for the entertainment, media, aerospace, automotive, architecture, computing, defense, intelligence, and consumer products sectors. A popular guest lecturer, Ferren has addressed over 200 professional groups in the entertainment, business, education and scientific communities. In 2011, he was named by Fast Company magazine as one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business. Nancy Jardini is Fannie Mae’s senior vice president and chief compliance officer. Jardini oversees the company’s Compliance and Ethics organization, including managing legal and regulatory compliance; developing and promoting the Code of Conduct, managing internal and external complaints through the Ethics program and the internal investigations staff, providing oversight for Anti-Fraud, Mortgage Fraud, and Privacy programs.
