Planning Commissioner Richard Prieto is a lifelong resident of District 4 and the City of Colton. He was originally appointed as a planning commissioner by then-mayor Albert Huntoon and also served on the mayor's advisory board. As a third generation Colton resident, Prieto had a strong work ethic and sense of pride for his city from a young age. He remembers his father saying, "Do for others out of the kindness of your heart, not for a pat on the back." For 30 consecutive years as a planning commissioner, he has practiced that by helping bring jobs into Colton for its residents and developing the culture of the city. If elected as councilman he would start at the top by helping to restore unity and sound leadership to the city council. By doing this, it would make Colton more attracive to businesses and developers. Prieto was appointed to Community Advisory Group (CAG) membership in the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) interstate I-10 and I-15 corridor projects, and serves there presently. He is a member of the Colton Museum and has participated in the Community Block Grant to improve the streets of Colton for its residents. Having raised his family in Colton, Richard has always been involved in mentoring Colton's youth by coaching soccer, basketball and football. Now that his children are grown with children of their own, he has extra time and opportunity to devote to further serving Colton and its residents by running for 4th District City Council. Prieto's primary goal is for all residents to feel a strong sense of community, whether you are a lifelong resident or brand new to the city. Please support him in making Colton the best place to live, raise your family and cultivate overall growth.
