Veterans Wellness Services provides in-home care to those veterans that have served their country.  Stacy Sanchez, who is the founder of Veterans Wellness Services for the past nine years, felt San Bernardino was the right place to be and his hope is that all of the veterans that are currently living on the streets will flock to this new center.  The service center here (2039 N. ‘D’ street) will start with 6 caregivers who will provide personal services such as cooking, cleaning and assisting with their medications.  Also, they will connect the veterans with counseling and housing resources nearby.  As of this past Friday, Sanchez, a Marine Corps veteran, has opened a headquarters for Veterans at 2039 N. ‘D’ street consistent with his other successful centers in Los Angeles County; he is hoping to serve approximately 200 veterans in the first year.  Sanchez has emphasized that, “Those 200 veterans will be served on a continual basis for the rest of their lives, and it is not a one-time thing.”

San Bernardino Councilman Benito Barrios showed his support of the program by saying a few words at the opening on Friday.  The average age of the veterans that the nonprofit assists is 76.  Sanchez has said, “That the center wants to be another resource for veterans, and we want to create awareness that there are people out here that need help.”  For more information about the Veteran Wellness Services contact: vetswellness.org.
