Central Station Looking for Citizen Volunteers

By San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department, Central Station

01/29/2014 at 10:04 AM

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Departments Central Station, which serves the communities of Loma Linda, Grand Terrace and the county areas of San Bernardino, is currently recruiting volunteers over the age or 18 to join their Citizens on Patrol unit. The Citizen Patrol program is a team of trained volunteers who serve as the eyes and ears for law enforcement. The program is designed for the volunteers who have an interest in helping the community and law enforcement. A Citizen Patrol volunteer will attend a 40-hour training academy covering topics such as crime prevention, driver awareness, traffic control, Neighborhood Watch, radio procedures, CPR and first aid, and media relations. To qualify for the program, a volunteer must have a high school diploma (or equivalent), a good driving record, no felony convictions, be a US citizen, and pass a background investigation. Anyone interested in the program is encouraged to contact the Sylvia Beasley, Sheriff’s Service Specialist at the Central Station, 909-387-3786.
