RPD Names Award Recipients

On Thursday, Dec. 10. Redlands Police Department held its annual awards and recognition ceremony at the Redlands Police Annex. The awards presented and recipients to receive them are included below. The Jose A. Rivera, Police Officer of the Year award is named in honor of the first Constable in the City of Redlands. Rivera was best known for treating everyone with dignity and respect. In fact, many of those he arrested during his career happily voted for him in the next election! His dedication to accomplishing a difficult job while maintaining the utmost respect for those he served is still the standard at this department and the reason that the Officer of the Year Award is given in his name. This year's recipient was Sgt. Kenneth Wright. The Redlands Police Officer of the Year for 2015 • Sgt. Ken Wright William C. Brumigan Award for professional staff • Dispatcher Jennifer Hernandez Explorer of the Year • Sarah Brown Volunteer of the Year • Citizen Volunteer Patrol member Carlos Padilla Lifesaving Award • Sgt. Dominick Povero received the Lifesaving Award for his actions on May 3, 2015, when he performed the Heimlich maneuver to save a choking victim at a downtown restaurant. Additionally, eight community members were recognized for their exceptional performance and service to the community. Honorees included: • Ian Crocker • Tabitha Kevari • David Lewandowski • Bryce Michael • Emilia Herrera • George Guidera • Benjamin Marion • Naveen Joby Chief’s Commendation recognition • Officer Breanna Herrera • Officer Brad Grantz • Forensics Officer Eloise Tankersley • Officer Jaimeson Liu • Cpl. Greg Holmer • Sgt. John Moore • Officer Daniel Figgins • Officer David Frisch • Dispatcher Jessica Mejia • Dispatcher Ashley Cox A Commitment to Excellence Award was given to several bureaus for their combined efforts in that led to the arrest of suspects in connection with a series of 11 robberies in Redlands, Fontana, Rialto, Calimesa and Rancho Cucamonga. Awardees included: • Members of the Redlands Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau • Fontana Police detective Rich Hunt • Fontana Police detective Scott Snyder • Fontana Police detective Cpl. Chris Tusant • Rialto Police Detective David Padilla • San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Bell The Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Award • CVP Rudy Lozano Certificates of Appreciation award • CVP Gary McCormick Officer • Officer Curtis Hankins • Dispatcher Annette DeWoody.
