Redlands Police are warning parents as they seek to identify a man who exposed himself to at least two Moore Middle School students as they walked to a bus stop Monday morning. The girls were walking to the bus stop at Sun Avenue and Calhoun Street at about 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, when they saw the man exposing himself next to a silver or gray four-door sedan. The man left the area in the vehicle after being spotted by an adult. Earlier that morning the same man reportedly approached another student in his vehicle and tried talking to her but did not expose himself. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a medium build. He had a small mustache and appeared to be unshaven. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and unknown color shorts. A letter is being sent home to parents from school administrators warning them of the incident. Parents are encouraged to make sure their children walk in groups or are accompanied by a trusted adult. Parents should also remind their children not to approach or speak to strangers and to report any unusual behavior immediately to police or school officials. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Mike Merriman at 909-798-7671 or by email at mmerriman@redlandspolice.org or call Redlands Police Dispatch at 909-798-7681. Anonymous tips can be provided by texting 274637 using the keyword “REDTIP.”
