GTHS Football Season Comes to a Close

Friday Night Lights in Grand Terrace has come to an end, and the 2013 Grand Terrace High School (GTHS) football season has come to a close. The Titans conclude with an overall record of 4-6 and a Sunkist League record of 2-3 in Sunkist League. The second year varsity program had its ups and downs all season long, and the record does not indicate the hard work these young men put in these past seven months. With three straight losses in league to Colton, Summit and league champion Kaiser, the Titans could not recover, but the future of GTHS football is bright, with both the freshmen and junior varsity teams going undefeated, both 9-0, and being crowned Sunkist League champions. To all our senior football players, we are proud of all you were able to accomplish. In your short time at GTHS, you have all paved the way for your younger brothers to follow. You are, and will always be, “the first class." Grand Terrace High School football recognizes the first ever senior captains in the 2013 season: quarterback Ralph Mohammed (#2); running back Nemo Perez (#27), right tackle Joe Valadez (#79); and tight end/defensive tackle Joe Ayala (#87). Stat leaders for 2013 include: * Passing: Ralph Mohammed (#2) 55-91, 944 yards, 7 touchdowns, 3 interceptions; and #15 Jonah Logan (#15) 8-12, 212 yards, 1 touchdown. * Rushing: Cruz Duke (#21) 165 carries, 1,132 yards, 12 touchdowns; Mohammed (#2) 52-232 yards, 4 touchdowns; Jerry Carrillo (#20)30-218 yards; Devon Dixon (#26) 24-158 yards, 4 touchdowns. * Receiving: Duke (#21) 26 catches, 663 yards, 5 touchdowns; Joe Ayala (#87) 10-98 yards, 2 touchdowns; Alvaro Torres (#80) 7-137 yards, 1 touchdown; Chris Santoscoy (#13) 7-49 yards; Cameron Terry (#25) 6-151 yards, 1 touchdown. * Tackles: Tyler Valentine (#47) 48 total tackles; Keilon Bradford (#17) 33; James Shipley (#32) 32; Cameron Alvarez (#56) 25; Kyle Starr (#10) 24; Julian Graham (#51) 24; Alex Longsworth (#5) 23.
