Not Your Average Neighbor

Grand Terrace is a unique city, and part of what makes it so special is our resident donkey herds. These animals are a cherished part of our community, and protected species ,but as their population grows and they move throughout the city, they present some challenges for both residents and the animals themselves.

A Sad Reality

Recently, the city, maintenance crews, and animal control have been receiving a continuous stream of calls regarding our donkey herds. This has led to an unfortunate reality: accidents involving donkeys and vehicles. These beautiful animals often travel as a family unit in the early morning hours, making them incredibly difficult to see for commuters. The accidents are a sad reminder that we need to prioritize safety on our roads.

We Can Do Our Part

Our donkeys are protected, and it is our responsibility to coexist with them safely. We urge all residents to be extra vigilant, especially during the morning commute. By obeying the speed limit and paying close attention to the road, you can help prevent future accidents. Keeping a safe distance from the herds is also crucial. It is important that we, as a community, do our part and follow these simple regulations. Along with the city, outside entities, and the community's work, we can safely coexist with these beautiful animals and preserve our city, our resources, and most importantly, protect these wild animals.
