Through the continued partnership with National Economics University in Hanoi, Vietnam, California State University, San Bernardino welcomed its second cohort of students who will complete their bachelor’s degrees in business here. The fall 2015 cohort of 10 Vietnamese students arrived at CSUSB on Sept. 21 for their final two years of study. Offered through CSUSB’s College of Extended Learning, the “2+2 Global Business Program” offers Vietnamese students an opportunity to earn an American undergraduate business education through study at both NEU and CSUSB. The students study for the first two years at NEU, where they complete part of their coursework for the business degree. They also enroll in an English language course and academic preparation courses taught by American instructors. Once the students complete 60 semester units there, they transfer to CSUSB to study for two years. Upon completion of their last two years at CSUSB, they will earn a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in finance. “The 2+2 program provides access to CSUSB’s top quality education to students in Vietnam,” said Jack Paduntin, associate dean, College of Extended Learning. “Not only does the program help increase student diversity at CSUSB, but it also helps with the university’s educational outreach through partnership with a premier institution in Vietnam.” “Currently, there are nearly 40 students in Vietnam who will be joining the CSUSB campus in the coming years,” Paduntin said. “And 21 of these students are already enrolled as part of the third group scheduled to transfer to our university in fall 2016.” In 2014, the two universities collaborated to design a program in the recruitment of students and to conduct educational programs in Vietnam. CSUSB welcomed the first group of 10 students in fall 2014. On Friday, Oct. 2, the College of Extended Learning will welcome eight delegates from National Economic University in Hanoi, Vietnam. The NEU delegates will meet with President Tomás D. Morales before a dinner at the Mission Inn in Riverside. The delegates include: Hoang Van Cuong, NEU vice president Nguyen Viet Lam, director, On the Job Training Department Bui Huy Nhuong, director, Centre for Advanced Educational Programs Le Trung Thanh, dean, Graduate School Nguyen Trung Tuan, dean, School of Economic Information Nguyen Dinh Trung, director, Facility Management Le Xuan Tung, director, Testing and Quality Assurance Pham Dan Khanh, manager, Centre for Advanced Educational Programs The NEU delegates will be greeted by Paduntin along with two current NEU 2+2 students, who will give them a campus tour. Throughout the afternoon, the delegates will meet with President Morales, Rong Chen, interim associate vice president of Academic and International programs, and various representatives of CSUSB’s Center for International Students and Programs, the College of Business and Public Administration and the College of Extended Learning.
