Arrest of Robbery/Attempted Murder Suspect

During the investigation a suspect was identified as Eddie Charles Lockhart, 28 years of age. A warrant for Attempted Murder and Attempted Robbery was issued for Lockhart’s arrest. The Colton Police Department contacted the U.S. Marshals Task Force Team 6 to assist in locating Lockhart. The Task Force is comprised of Investigators and Agents from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and US Marshals. After approximately three months of ongoing investigation and surveillance Agents located and arrested Lockhart in the City of San Bernardino. Agents then released Lockhart to Detectives from the Colton Police Department. Lockhart was later booked into San Bernardino County Jail for his warrant and Parole Violation.

Description of event:

On 11/14/17 at approximately 9:45 AM Colton Police Officers responded to a business (Smoke Shop), located in the 1600 Block of East Washington St, Colton, in reference to a possible stabbing. Officers discovered that an unknown suspect entered the business and demanded money and/or property from the store clerk. A struggle ensued inside the business. The suspect was armed with a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper body and head. The suspect then fled from the business. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition. A search for the suspect was conducted by Colton Officers with assistance from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Aviation & K-9 Unit and Fontana Police Department K-9 Unit. However, the suspect was not located. The case is being investigated by the Colton Police Department Detective Division.
