On May 21st the Grand Terrace Woman’s Club installed new officers for the 2014-2015 club year. Those installed included: President-Wendy Curran; 1st Vice President-Nancy Sherman Austin; 2nd V.P. – Betty Daniel; 3rd V.P.-Sally McGuire; Recording Secretary- Renee Richmond; Corresponding Secretary-Carolynn Crowe; Treasurer-Joanne Long; Auditor-Rosemary Lopez and Parliamentarian-Pat Nix. They will assume their duties on June 1st. The Installing Officer was Stephanie Stark, President, San Bernardino District Federation of Women’s Clubs. In remarks after the installation, President Wendy Curran, who is serving a second term, harkened back to her remarks last year when she posed the question to members, “Would our founding members be proud of how what we do in our community?” Her answer – undeniably, yes. "The many worthwhile projects in service to our community have a lasting impact and the club members give of their time and money to make things happen. Still, there is always more that club members can do each year to keep our community and country strong." She also asked for volunteers to chair the many projects undertaken by the club. President Curran also noted the awards recently earned by the club for their many volunteer activities. At the recent San Bernardino District Annual Convention, GTWC – in the intermediate club-size category, received 5 First-Place District Awards in the following categories: Conservation Community Service; Conservation Partnership; Public Issues; Domestic Violence Awareness Special Project; Home Life. Those reports went on for judging in the State-wide categories. The GTWC will not have regular meetings during the summer, although the Executive Board will meet to make plans for next year. The first meeting of the year will be September 17th at the Grand Terrace Community Center. The club will be holding their annual membership drive and a Membership Tea will be held prior to that date. If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact Wendy Curran.
