Do you like to sing? Do you want to improve your vocal skills? Come and try us out! We welcome all singers to join us for an open rehearsal, on Monday, September 11, 2023, from 7-9:00 P.M., at the Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 11650 Perris Blvd., Moreno Valley, CA 92557. Open rehearsals will continue each Monday evening throughout September. This year we also have funding for 7 youth interns ages 16-21 to sing with us. Please go to our website at: www.morenovalleymasterchorale.org, or call 951-485-8414 or 951-242-4963 for more information about the Chorale and the Youth Internship Program.

Under the direction of Dr. Viorel Gheorghe, our Chorale will begin its 2023-24 preparations for our 37th choral season. Our first concert will be held on Sunday, December 3, in Palm Springs with a performance of Handel’s “Messiah.” We will also be rehearsing music for our “Christmas Classics” concert to be presented in Moreno Valley on Sunday, December 10, 2023. In the spring of 2024, we will have our “Music of the Masters” concert. Finally, we will conclude our season with a pops concert in early June. Throughout the year, we also sing for many informal events within the Inland Empire.

The Moreno Valley Master Chorale is a 501(c)(3) non-profit singing group that was founded in 1986 by Dr. Rudy Sun. We are the “Choral Ambassadors” for the City of Moreno Valley. Our current director is Dr. Viorel Gheorghe, who has been the Artistic Director of the Moreno Valley Master Chorale and Orchestra since 2005. He earned his Master's Degree in Music Performance from the University of Redlands where he studied Oboe and Conducting. Later he received his Ph.D. in Music Theory from USC. He is also a composer, and arranger, and is active in the area of music publishing. His most notable work is his comprehensive treatise on the Theory of Byzantine Music, the only such work in the English language. He is frequently in demand as a music educator, and has taught various music classes at the University of Redlands, USC, La Sierra University, UCR, and RCC here in the Inland Empire.

Our amazing accompanist this year will again be Jonathan Keplinger. He earned his Master of Music Degree in Collaborative Piano at the University of New Mexico in the studio of Pamela Pyle. He has worked professionally as a vocal coach, accompanist, and studio pianist for many years, and is currently employed as a staff pianist at UC Riverside.
