If you had the ability to create a world with more birthdays, would you do it?
This year, the students of Grand Terrace High School will be holding their 2nd Annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life to support the fight for a cancer-free world.
Relay For Life is an over-night event that celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those we’ve lost to cancer, and raised funds for the American Cancer Society to help fight back against the disease. At this event, students will come together to walk, run, and camp out in the high school’s gym to create a united network of support and dedication.
Our relay starts at 7 p.m. on May 2nd and begins with a Survivor Lap, an inspiring time where survivors are honored by participants in support of their incredible fight. Family and friends are invited to take part in this ceremony along with one of the most memorable events during the night: the Luminaria Ceremony. Around 9:30 p.m., everyone has the opportunity to walk the track lined with Luminaria bags and take a moment to remember those who have courageously fought but have lost their lives to cancer.
Funds raised by Relay For Life support programs and services for patients and their families in Grand Terrace such as the American Cancer Society’s program Road to Recovery which provides cancer patients free rides to and from treatment so that they can receive the life-saving care they need. Another program is Look Good Feel Better which provides cancer patients with beauty techniques to help them cope and feel good about themselves during radiation and chemotherapy, along with other cancer treatments.
Let’s come together to add another birthday candle to every birthday cake this year.
