On Friday, January 18, 2019 the Redlands Republican Women’s Club is pleased to announce that Dr. Curt Emick, Pharmacist and Apple Valley Councilman, will be the featured speaker at the Club’s lunch meeting. He will be speaking about the “Opiate Crisis.” The meeting will be held at the Redlands Country Club starting at 11:30 am, with lunch served at noon and the presentation scheduled at 12:30 pm. The cost for lunch is $20 and reservations must be made by January 16. For reservations call Laurie Tremain at (909) 792-2501. If you want to hear the speaker and not have lunch, there is no cost, and there will be seats available. College students are invited to attend, and lunch will be free for them.

Dr. Curt Emick was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from the University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy with a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree in 1979. He has worked at several corporate pharmacies including Sav-On Drugs, Gemco and Walgreens. He was the owner/operator of Park Centre Pharmacy and Curt’s Mesa Pharmacy (later Curt’s Pharmacy) in Victorville from 1986 to 2003. Dr. Emick served on the opening Executive Lead Team and pharmacy manager at the Apple Valley Target store from 2007-2013, and now works as an independent contractor, providing relief coverage for independent pharmacy owners. Dr. Emick also serves as an advocate for small business pharmacies, sharing issues and concerns with many elected officials.

His collaboration and partnership currently involves Senator Feinstein and her staff, San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, San Bernardino Behavioral Health Department and San Bernardino Health Department.

Dr. Emick’s current topic, which he will address at the meeting on January 18, is “Understanding drug addiction (Drugs, Opiates and marijuana); pharmacy ethics and conflicts.” He has presented this to many groups, including Upland City Council, Town Council of Apple Valley, San Bernardino County Transportation Authority and San Bernardino County Council of Governments.

Councilman Curt Emick is a graduate of the Victorville Chamber of Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program (2007) and a past member of the Victor Valley Sunrise Rotary, in which he served as president in 2004-05. Other community involvement includes the Excelsior Education Center Executive Governing Board (president 2006-07) and member of the Victorville Kiwanis Club since 2008. He was elected to the Town Council in 2010 and served as mayor for 2013, and also sits as a Victor Valley Economic Development Authority commissioner and a board member of the San Bernardino Associated Governments.

Dr. Emick and his wife, Val have four children and eleven grandchildren.
