MORENO VALLEY>> Thirty schools of the Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD) have been awarded medals by the California PBIS Coalition! Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) supports a mindset of using positive relationships between staff and students to decrease incidents of discipline and produce alternatives to off-campus suspensions.

Hidden Springs Elementary is shining bright with a Gold Medal Award, while 26 schools received a Silver Medal Award and 3 were given a Bronze Medal Award.

“PBIS is helping all of our students be in a school with positive relationships between student and educators. It is a crucial piece of our LCAP goals of reducing suspensions and expulsions,” said Superintendent Dr. Martinrex Kedziora.

The formal recognition will occur at the California PBIS Coalition Conference in October.
