Police Arrest Man in Connection with Attempted Tire Theft

REDLANDS>> Redlands Police investigators have identified a man arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle as the suspect who fled from officers after attempting to steal tires and rims from a parked vehicle at a local shopping center in February. Redlands Police arrested 33-year-old Paul Derek Moghadam at his home in San Bernardino on Wednesday, March 15, for possession of a stolen vehicle and other warrants. A stolen vehicle was located in the driveway. On Feb. 25, witnesses reported two subjects attempting to steal the rims and tires from a Ford Explorer in the parking lot at Citrus Plaza shopping center, 27430 W. Lugonia Ave. A pursuit began when responding officers saw a vehicle leaving the scene and attempted a traffic stop. Although the pursuit was cancelled after a few minutes for public safety, officers were able to positively identify the driver of the vehicle as Moghadam. The district attorney’s office will consider filing additional charges related to the pursuit and attempted theft.
