The Community Chorus of Redlands, under the direction of Jeffrey H. Rickard, will present A Concert of Anthems, Readings, and Carols of the Advent and Christmas seasons. This festive evening features a wide variety of music, both choral and instrumental, and includes readings from a variety of sacred and secular sources as well as familiar carols for audience and choir. The dates for performances are Dec. 20 at 8 p.m., held at First Congregational Church, 2 West Olive, Redlands, and Dec. 21 at 8 p.m., held at St. Rita Catholic Church, 321 N. Baldwin Ave., Sierra Madre, and Dec. 22 at 4 p.m., held at Faith Lutheran Church, 12449 California Street, Yucaipa. Community Chorus of Redlands is an auditioned choral ensemble of over 70 voices from throughout the greater Inland Empire and Orange County. They are directed by their founder, Jeffrey H. Rickard, Professor Emeritus of Sacred Music from the University of Redlands, Redlands. Rickard and the Community Chorus have designed this special seasonal musical offering from the influences of Rickard’s 38 years as director of The Feast of Lights, the annual Christmas Festival at the University of Redlands. Special guest ensemble is Ensemble XXI, a Redlands Camerata of over 20 voices with Rickard as conductor. They will present several unaccompanied carols and anthems and join with Community Chorus in the last part of these presentations. A free-will offering will be received in support of Community Chorus and the expenses incurred in this presentation.
