The Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society will hold its January General Meeting on Thursday Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Nazarene, 1307 E. Citrus Avenue in Redlands. The guest speaker will be Roxanne Bon of the Beaumont Garden Center located in Beaumont Ca., and she will give a very informative and fun lecture on “Organic Vegetable Gardening.” Bon is an expert in the field of organics, having worked with Mel Bartholomew and Elliot Coleman - both pioneers in the organic movement. Bon will educate us on how to grow bigger and healthier vegetables with simple, proven techniques and will give us the latest and greatest information on organics for us to use in our own gardens. Bon will cover Raised Bed Gardening, how to create a living soil, discuss the use of organic fertilizers, how to incorporate organic pest control, the benefits of worm farming and watering. Previously, the speaker has hosted a very popular Gardening Radio Talk Show on organics, and has been teaching organic classes since 2004. In that time, she has learned how to Keep It Simple and make it easy for every gardener to produce healthier vegetables using her proven methods.
