San Bernardino County needs a voice in Congress who will put middle class families first, work across party lines and get results. I am running to represent you because I know first-hand the challenges middle class families face, and as a mayor, I have a proven track record of getting results. It’s time for Congress to start solving problems instead of creating them. As mayor of Redlands, I worked with Democrats and Republicans to solve our budget problems in a responsible manner. We balanced the last five budgets while protecting funding for students and seniors. We worked together to reduce crime in our neighborhoods, invest in our city’s infrastructure and provide support to local small businesses to create jobs. In Congress, I will take the same approach and stand up for the Inland Empire. This is my home, where I worked two jobs to put myself through college, started a small business and am raising my family. Our country faces many challenges, yet Congress has consistently failed to take action. We need to support policies that will grow our economy, support small businesses and create good paying, middle class jobs here in our community. We need to invest in American-made industries and rebuild our nation’s crumbling infrastructure. We must also raise the minimum wage to help hardworking families put food on the table. As a father of two young kids, I also know that education is the most important investment we can make. In Congress, I will protect funding for early childhood education and fight for student loan reform so that college graduates aren’t forced to enter the workforce drowning in debt and three steps behind. We must also keep the promises we have made to our seniors. I will always protect Social Security and Medicare and refuse to balance the budget on the backs of our nation’s seniors. I am asking for your vote for Congress to give me the opportunity to start solving problems for San Bernardino County. Together, we can make our economy fairer for middle class families, create jobs, invest in education and protect our seniors.
