ALL>> The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino had three players named to the California League’s Southern Division All-Star Team it was announced on Tuesday. Third baseman Jose Rojas and starting pitchers Jose Rodriguez and Jaime Barria were all named to the squad that will square off versus the Northern Division All-Stars at Recreation Park in Visalia on Tuesday, June 20th at 5:00 pm. The contest will mark the first time since 1995 that the Cal League will hold its own festivities rather than an exhibition game versus all-stars from the fellow Advanced Class-A Carolina League.

Rojas will be Inland Empire’s lone position player garnering an All-Star nod. Through June 12th the third baseman was batting .307 in 51 games with four homers, 11 doubles, two triples and 26 RBI. He had a ten-game hit streak between May 24th and June 4th and currently leads all qualified Cal League third baseman with a .955 fielding percentage. The Anaheim, CA native was selected by his hometown Angels in the 36th round of the draft only last June out of Vanguard University.

Rodriguez leads the 66ers and is currently third in the Cal League with six wins. The righty is sixth in the league with 71.0 IP and has struck out 66 batters against 18 walks. The Bolivar, VZ native was 3-2 with a 3.03 ERA in the month of May and had a stretch of four starts in which he allowed just three runs over 23.0 IP. The Angels signed him as an international free agent in December of 2012 as a 17-year-old.

Honored as a Cal League All-Star but unable to participate in the game due to a promotion on June 1 to Double-A Mobile for the Angels is RHP Jaime Barria. The 20-year-old was brilliant for the Sixers going 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA allowing just 48 hits in 65.1 IP with 57 Ks and just 13 walks. He was especially dominant at San Manuel Stadium in six starts he had a 0.98 ERA and allowed just 20 hits in 36.2 IP with six walks and 30 Ks. The Panama City, Panama native signed with the Angels as an international free agent in 2013.
