SAN BERNARDINO>> Wednesday, Dec. 7 marked the 75th anniversary of the infamous Dec. 7, 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. San Bernardino County Supervisor Curt Hagman gave tribute to the remaining survivors. “This is the last major anniversary of Pearl Harbor at which we will have the opportunity to thank surviving heroes in person.” Hagman said. “They are in their 90’s now, and it is such an honor to shake the hand of these living monuments of the most infamous war in human history. The Greatest Generation truly made it possible for Americans to live today in peace and freedom. We owe them a debt of gratitude that can never be fully repaid.” A ceremony commemorating the attack is held every year at 7:50 AM at Pearl Harbor, the exact time of day of the attack on Dec. 7, 1941. Thousands of veterans and the general public observe the ceremony in person near the USS Arizona Memorial, the eternal resting place in Pearl Harbor for 1,177 crewmen who went down with their ship.
