At a joint meeting last week, the governing boards of the Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) and San Bernardino International Airport Authority (SBIAA) unanimously voted to remove "acting" from Mike Burrows' title, officially appointing him as their new executive director. "Mr. Burrows has served the IVDA for the past 18 years. During his tenure, he has proven himself to be an invaluable resource within the agency. I am confident that he possesses the vision and leadership to take IVDA and the airport to new heights," said Supervisor Josie Gonzales, Co-chair of the IVDA Board. Burrows began his employment at IVDA in 1997 as an intern drafting grant proposals. From there he was brought on as an analyst working on real estate and development projects that aimed to reinstate the economic benefit of the shuttered Norton Air Force Base (NAFB). He was appointed and has been serving as IVDA's Acting Executive Director for the past year. The two-year contract approved today tasks Burrows with completing strategic plans for both IVDA and SBIAA, and calls for an evaluation by this time next year which will rate his performance based on achievement of the goals outlined in that plan. “Every job we bring, and what that job means to that individual and their family…that’s what keeps me here. That’s what makes this place unique for me," Burrows said. "I, along with my staff and the boards' leadership, am ready to maximize the resources we have to bring new economic prosperity and growth that IVDA and the airport can attract to our region," Burrows said. San Bernardino Mayor Carey Davis serves as President of SBIAA. He commented, "The SBIAA Commission is pleased to appoint Mr. Burrows as its new Executive Director. The growth and development of the San Bernardino International Airport is critical to the City of San Bernardino's economic recovery moving forward."
