LOMA LINDA>> On Wednesday, Sept. 28, at approximately 6:38 p.m., a 70-year-old female victim was loading groceries in her vehicle at the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot on Barton Road and Mountain View Avenue in Loma Linda. She reported that she was approached by a Hispanic male adult who forcibly pulled her purse off her shoulder and fled on foot. Witnesses saw the incident take place and rendered assistance to the victim. The male subject was observed getting into the passenger seat of a green older model 4-door Toyota Corolla with distinctive features and visible license plates. The vehicle was driven by a Hispanic female adult with a small child in the back seat. The male subject was able to get away from the location due to the female’s erratic driving through the parking lot as she fled the area. Deputies from the Central Station assigned to the City of Loma Linda responded to the incident location and conducted a thorough investigation. With clear color video surveillance, witness and the victim’s statement, accurate information was developed that enabled investigators to identify the vehicle and the suspect’s involved in the crime. On Thursday, Sept. 29, at approximately 7:32 p.m., the vehicle and the two subjects involved in the crime were located. Ross Baltierra, 23, and Jessica Estrada, 20, both residents of San Bernardino, were detained and arrested. Due to Estrada’s medical condition with her pregnancy, the report with her involvement will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review and filing. Baltierra, who is currently on parole for a car-jacking conviction was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Baltierra has an extensive violent criminal history and is a known San Bernardino Street Gang member. The senior citizen’s property was recovered and returned to her. Anyone with information regarding this crime, or other crimes involving these suspects, is urged to contact the Central Station at (909)387-3545.
