Grand Terrace REC Center Provides Clothing for Women’s Network Alliance

In keeping with the overall mission of the establishment of the Grand Terrace REC Center, which was to provide resources, education, and community service programs and recreational opportunities to disadvantaged residents in certain areas of need, on July 20 Jennifer Araiza, executive director of the REC Center, held an event at the center promoting the needs of the Woman’s Network Alliance (WNA). Araiza and other WNA members worked that day to provide 11 women the opportunity to select professional business attire to utilize at work, during an interview process, or at different business functions. The dresses and outfits were donated by local businesses, such as New-to-You, City News Group, Inland Job Seekers, and San Bernardino County agencies that promote back to work programs. Araiza said, “I’ve been doing this program for a couple of months and it is continuing to grow in stature and attendance. I had to turn away several applicants because I didn’t have enough clothes to supply the demand, but I’m working with different agencies to hopefully change that need at our next event.” Almost all the women in attendance were able to leave with two free outfits plus accessories to compliment the dresses and suits; many shared their gratefulness to the sponsors supporting this event. “This program is so rewarding and it is one of many that this Center provides for the local community,” Araiza said. The REC Center also provides preschool, arts, music, fitness, dance, cheer and educational courses and activities. The Center is located at 12034 La Crosse at Barton Road in Grand Terrace and at 18604 Jurupa Ave., Bloomington. The main day at Grand Terrace is Wednesday and the main day at Bloomington is on Tuesday. Everyone is invited to attend.
