From September 26 to October 6, 2019 over 100,000 film lovers in over 350 cities across six continents will gather for one reason...to view and vote on the Finalists' Films in the 22nd Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival. You Be the Judge! Not only do MANHATTAN SHORT filmgoers get the chance to watch the cream of the year’s international short films, every audience member also plays an integral part in deciding the winner. By casting their vote for their favorite film and actor, it is our worldwide audience that determines the ultimate victor.

The San Bernardino Public Library is offering three choices of days and times to participate in this international film festival. The 2 hours of films will be shown on Tuesday, October 1 at 5 PM; Thursday, October 3 at 3 PM; and Saturday, October 5 at 2 PM in the Bing Wong Auditorium at the Feldheym Central Library at 555 W. 6th Street in San Bernardino. Each audience member will be handed a voting card upon entry to the auditorium and asked to vote for the ONE film they think should win.  Votes will be tallied and sent to MANHATTAN SHORT headquarters.  The overall winner will be announced on Monday October 7, 2019.

MANHATTAN SHORT is not a touring Festival; rather, it is an instantaneous celebration that occurs simultaneously across the globe, bringing great films and great artists to great venues and allowing the audiences to select their favorites. All films selected in MANHATTAN SHORT 2019, will be eligible to enter the Oscars in 2020, via the MANHATTAN SHORT Oscar Qualifying Screenings at Los Feliz 3 Cinemas in the county of Los Angeles.

The Final Ten MANHATTAN SHORT finalists hail from seven countries with films from France, Iran, Canada, Germany, and Finland alongside two films from USA and a record three from the United Kingdom. These Final ten films represent the best short films among 1250 submissions from 70 countries received by MANHATTAN SHORT for 2019, testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of short films worldwide. This year's Final Ten represent an extraordinary range of film genres that includes intimate dramas, spine-tingling suspense, and hilarious comedies, as well as genre surprises like a pair of science fiction films and one that focuses on tennis. "A narrative short film on sports is as rare as a centaur sighting," notes Pia Andell, director of the The Match.

This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library. For more information call 909-381-8235, visit www.sbpl.org or www.facebook.com/SBPLfriends/
