Mayor's Weekly Message 87

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

Our City’s first priority is public safety.  It requires making sure our professional first-responders have the resources they need to protect residents in time of emergency.  But it doesn’t end there.  More than 200,000 people call Moreno Valley home, and many are ready and willing to help should disaster strike.  All they need is training support from the City.

September is National Preparedness Month, a good time to highlight the valuable FREE resources and training our City offers to help you learn to help yourself and others in time of crisis.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training teaches the basic skills and planning to help you cope with an emergency.  Topics include first aid, assessing hazards, fire suppression, and light search and rescue techniques.  Register online for CERT training at moval.org/oem.

And early notice of an impending emergency can help you respond more effectively.  That’s why we created Alert MoVal, an opt-in emergency-notification system that sends a message to all registered residents and businesses.  Sign up for Alert MoVal today!

If you haven’t created an emergency plan for your home and family yet, National Preparedness Month is a great time to do it.  Visit MoVal’s Office of Emergency Management online at moval.org/oem for all the information you need.
