Free Emergency Food Days

In collaboration with the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino Food Bank, the Colton Community Services Department (CCSD) hosts food giveaways once a month every 4th Friday to low- income families in the cities of Colton and Grand Terrace. The food is provided through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) food services and commodities. A limited amount of non-perishable food and clothing is available for Colton residents only. The giveaways are supplied through charitable donations and event subsidized programs by Colton businesses, schools, individuals, and organizations for their neighbors in need. Many of these services are accessible by appointment ONLY and proof of residency is mandatory at the time of your appointment. Free emergency food day’s events for Grand Terrace and Colton residents south of the 10 freeway will start from 8:00 a.m.- 10:00 a.m. at Luque Center- 292 East O Street, phone number (909) 370-5087. And for Colton residents north of the 10 freeway events starts 11:00 a.m.– 1:00 p.m. located at the Hutton Center- 660 North Colton Avenue, phone number (909) 370- 6168. Volunteers or extremely needed. If any volunteer needs community service, hours for housing, school or GAIN please contact the center to reserve your spot. However, please understand that there is only a limited amount of volunteers needed to assist with residence food distribution drive and or help disabled/elderly with their bags etc. so reserve spots. Kelly Phelps, David Ream, and Reginal Jackson are community staff member servicing the cities of Grand Terrace and Colton every day. “It’s a very full feeling experience giving back to the community, helping out and being a part of the parades, and putting smiles on the people face is the most rewarding experience ever.” The Colton Community Services Department unites the community through people, amenities and programs. They are pushed by the aspiration to connect the community by valuing its diversity, and understanding the social, cultural, educational, and recreational needs of the city’s residents. A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
