On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at approximately 2:00 pm, the San Bernardino Police Department’s Vice Team was conducting surveillance in the downtown area of San Bernardino in an attempt to locate a minor and a suspect involved in the human trafficking of the minor. The suspect and the minor were located together at a local motel. The minor was rescued and the suspect, identified as Samuel Irby-Smith, was arrested. Through further investigation officers learned a female prostitute, later identified as Emillee Campos, was involved in the human trafficking of the minor as well.

Irby-Smith and Campos are currently being held at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s West Valley Detention Center. They were booked for felony violations of human trafficking of a minor and are currently being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

Community involvement plays an integral part in the fight against human trafficking and law enforcement appreciates and encourages the assistance and information provided by the public.
