At just 17 years old, Andres Melo has proven himself to be both a standout student and a dedicated athlete. Currently a Senior at Jurupa Hills High School, Andres carries an impressive 3.5 GPA while balancing the demands of football, and track and field.

Before transferring to Jurupa Hills, Andres attended Grand Terrace High School, where he also played football. His journey has been one of constant growth, and today he shines as a leader on and off the field.

Andres has been playing football and basketball since the age of four. At the high school level, he has taken on multiple roles including tight end, defensive end/tackle, and outside linebacker. In addition, he competes in track and field, focusing on the shot put and discus.

One of his proudest accomplishments has been earning the title of team captain, a role that reflects the respect his coaches and teammates have for his work ethic and leadership.

In the classroom, Andres is equally committed. On track to graduate with 280 credits, he takes pride in balancing sports and academics, proving that discipline and dedication extend beyond the field.

This season, his leadership and grit have stood out. From his powerful blocking to his ability to step up under pressure, Andres has consistently created opportunities for his teammates. One of the highlights of his career came in Week 3, when he scored three touchdowns in a single game against Temescal Canyon.

Despite battling injuries, Andres continues to push through, showing resilience and determination.

When he’s not competing, Andres enjoys going to the gym and playing the piano.

His motivation comes from his biggest influences, which he credits his parents, coaches, and trainers, “My mom and dad have always supported me and taught me the value of hard work and dedication. My coaches, especially, have pushed me to be more than just an athlete. They’ve helped me grow into a better man by teaching me integrity, discipline, toughness, sacrifice, and pride. Their guidance has shaped not only how I play the game but also how I carry myself every day.”

Looking ahead, Andres hopes to continue playing football at the collegiate level while pursuing a career in sports medicine. Inspired by the trainers and therapists who help athletes recover and stay strong, he dreams of combining his passion for sports with a profession that allows him to support others.

A favorite quote of his comes from Greg Plitt, “Later in life starts right now.”

Andres also shares advice for others chasing their goals, “Step out of your comfort zone. Growth doesn’t happen by playing it safe. If there’s an opportunity that can bring you closer to your goals, even if it feels challenging, go for it. Taking risks and pushing yourself is the only way to truly improve and reach your full potential.”

While Andres has found a new home at Jurupa Hills, those at Grand Terrace still cheer him on with pride. Once a Titan, always a Titan at heart. His journey is only beginning, and there’s no doubt that the best is yet to come for Andres Melo. We wish him the best.
