Athlete of the Week: Angelou Flamenco

Grand Terrace High School Senior Angelou Flamenco continues to prove why he is one of Titan Nation’s most dependable student athletes. At just 16 years old, Angelou shines both in the classroom, where he maintains a 4.0 GPA, and on the field, where his strength and discipline set him apart.

Angelou’s love for sports began back in elementary school, and he found his way back to football during his sophomore year at GTHS. Since then, he has grown into a versatile Varsity player, lining up at both Defensive End and Tight End. A highlight of his career so far is being recognized with San Andreas All-League honors for football in 2024.

That dedication was on full display under the Friday Night Lights against Palm Springs High School. Angelou recorded a memorable 30-yard catch and run, where he stiff-armed one defender and broke another tackle to gain 10 extra yards. “It shows off how the weight room and size has been a big help to be able to run through someone,” he shared.

Beyond football, Angelou has expanded his athletic experience to Track and Field, competing in Shot Put. This year, he plans to try either wrestling or basketball after football season ends. Off the field, he enjoys working out, spending time with family and friends, and even painting. It is something he admits he’s not the best at, but enjoys nonetheless.

When reflecting on his journey, Angelou credits his faith and support system: “God has been the biggest influence in my life along with all the people around me. They’ve kept me motivated, made sure I didn’t give up, and continue to push me forward.”

Looking to the future, Angelou hopes to compete at the Division I level in college while majoring in engineering. Guided by the words, “If you fall down, get right back up,” he continues to push toward his goals.

With his talent and determination, it’s clear this Titan has a bright future ahead. As he finishes his senior year and prepares for the next chapter, we wish Angelou Flamenco nothing but the best.
