City Resources for Beating the Heat

Summer heat in Moreno Valley is no joke! When temperatures soar into the triple digits, it’s essential to take care of yourself and check in on your neighbors, especially seniors and those with chronic health conditions triggered or exacerbated by excessive heat.

Thankfully, Moreno Valley has your back with several air-conditioned “Cool Center” locations throughout the City to help you beat the heat. When local temperatures reach 97 degrees and above, our residents can find a safe, convenient place to stay cool. These include the Cottonwood Golf Center, our Main and Iris Library branches, and the Moreno Valley Senior Center. These spaces provide a comfortable environment where you can relax, hydrate, and escape the worst of the heat.

Even if you’re staying home, please take precautions. Drink plenty of water, minimize alcohol and caffeine intake, wear light, breathable clothing, and limit your time outdoors. Extreme temperatures can lead to serious health issues, such as heat stroke or exhaustion, especially during a heat wave, which can strike anywhere and last for days.

Our team has also compiled helpful tips and resources, including guidance on recognizing the signs of heat-related illness and what to do during a power outage. You can find them all at moval.org/cool

Let’s look out for one another this summer, MoVal. Whether it’s sharing a ride to a Cool Center, offering water to a neighbor, or simply checking in with loved ones, every small act of kindness helps us all stay safe and cool together.
