“Karate Kids” Overcome the Odds

Two local karate students recently overcame outstanding odds and came out winners. Redlands Karate students Isaiah Lopez and Noah Gonzalez participated on June 22 in a karate tournament hosted in the City of Gardena. Due to small turnout at the event, divisions were weighted heavily toward more advanced students. Isaiah has been a student at Redlands Karate for approximately six months, while Noah has been studying for less than a month. The two boys went up against competitors that were not only older, but who also had studied karate for two years. While the odds were stacked against Isaiah and Noah, neither boy showed any sign of giving in to the pressure. Each of the boys faced the competition head-on and came out the other side as a winner. One of the fundamental teachings at Redlands Karate is to be courageous and never give up. These two boys proved to be self-confident and assertive while upholding a modest demeanor, and Redlands Karate is proud to have children of this caliber as students.
